Columbia Transit explores new funding options

Columbia Transit is considering adding an extra utility fee to Columbia residents and businesses to help fund public transportation. It issued a survey in April to get more information about what sort of impact the fee might have on Columbia residents.

Transit funding demographics

The proposed utility fee would be $2 on single-family homes and $4 on multi-family homes. The fee for commercial businesses depends on the square feet of the business.Transit funding costs

Children’s Grove proposed at Stephens Lake Park

Putting Kids First proposed a plan for a new space to be added to Stephens Lake Park. The space will feature 41 new low hanging trees and five stone walls, with the intent of creating a safe space that only children can pass through and play in.

Traveling to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta

The Missouri Tigers are headed to the Southeastern Conference Championship game Saturday in Atlanta. Two choices of travel for most MU fans are plane and car, with a wide range of traveling cost depending on where you’re starting and how you’re getting to Atlanta.
